Blood and Wine
A mismatch, a misunderstanding. Love bites.
The candles were lit. The wine was drunk. Cassandra and Valentina were wrapped in each other, hands roving, desire aflame.
Cass was captivated by Val. In the six months they’d been together, she’d found a partner in crime. And hopefully, potentially, in (un)life.
She couldn’t keep the bloodlust at bay. Nestled in their twining embrace, she smelled her perfume, her scent. She passed a tongue over her sharpened fangs. Val would understand.
-
Val was enamoured with Cass. No one else had been able to keep up with her before, to run through the streets causing chaos in their wake.
Her heart thrummed. It was too close to the full moon. She should have locked herself away. But she just couldn’t stay away from Cass. As Cass’ neck lay exposed, vulnerable, she felt her canines grow. One bite and they could run through the woods forever, lose themselves in the hunt.
She bit down, just as she felt a sting in her neck.
-
Cass leapt twelve feet vertically to the ceiling. Her neck twisted round far further than a human’s should allow. Blood dripping from her teeth and neck, she hissed.
Val had grown claws and silky fur. She growled.
“What the f-” both cursed in unison.
“You’re a-!” they spat, glares in full force.
“No, no, no!” Cass wailed. “I bit a dog, the Coterie will disown me!”
“The pack’ll shred me for this.” Val croaked, blood running down her sizable teeth. “There’s no coming back from falling in love with a vampire.”
Cass was stunned. She lost her grip and fell in a heap on the bed amongst the still warm, crimson-stained sheet.
“L-love?!” She squeaked. Had she blood to spare, her cheeks would be scarlet.
Val realises she has said too much a moment too late.
“Well, yeah.” Embarrassed, she scratched at the back of her neck. “This has been the most fun I’ve had in, well, ever.”
“You know this makes us Nesuferit. Unbearable. Intolerable..”
Val shrugs. “Sod the lot of them then. Let’s burn it all.”
Cass took her outstretched paw and pulled her to the bed.

Ahhhhh, it's perfect
